Struggling to Find the Desire to Workout?
Let’s face it, every now and then even the most consistent and committed individuals can wake up and find themselves with little or no desire to workout that day. I am certainly no exception to that. There have been days that after my alarm goes off and I am still laying in bed, I consider turning over and dozing back off to sleep under the warmth of my comforter.
So what keeps me from hitting the snooze button and skipping my commitments?
For me, it is all about the goals that I have set for myself. I haven’t met them yet and I certainly won’t be getting any close to them if I were to stay in my bed more often than not. I’ve mentioned this several times in the past, you have to establish a “WHY”. A “WHY” that is so powerful that you won’t let yourself get derailed from reaching your goals. The power of your WHY is going to determine your success.
Ok, you have a “WHY”, how about something more?
Sometimes that WHY can be a BIG THING and it should be! It can take some time to make it to the finish line and the road that leads you there can and likely will be long and winding. Given that, you’ll want to setup some short-term goals that allow you to break down that larger goal into something that is much more obtainable. Reaching those smaller, albeit important, goals should not go unnoticed. For, it is without those smaller goals, you would not be able to reach you WHY!
So, let’s celebrate those minor victories. How you ask?
Here are a few things that I thought of as a way that you can reward yourself and buy some motivation to help you get to that next goal.
New Music
Who doesn’t enjoy some good workout jams? Freshen up your workout playlist with some new music! I find that sometimes the right song will get my mind and body in a mood to crush my workout.
New Workout Wear
You want to have comfortable workout wear, but perhaps that Under Armour gear is a bit out of your budget right now. Reward yourself, by splurging for that shirt, pair of shorts/pants so that you can rock your next workout in style.
New Workout Equipment
I am constantly on the lookout for new workout equipment to add to my home gym. Adding things a little bit at a time is typically the only way for most people, including myself. Upgrade your equipment or get something new to give yourself something to get excited about using for your next workout!
Adventure
Ever wanted to do something kinda crazy? Plan a weekend of sky diving, riding the trails, a mud run or snowboarding. Your workouts can go hand in hand with something like this to help you prepare.
Make A Wish List
Start making a list of things that as you progress on your journey, you have an endless list of thing to choose from. Use a website like Pinterest.com to keep track of them visually, this will help motivate and inspire you to keep pushing yourself to that next goal.
Have you tried rewarding yourself for motivation?
What was the reward you earned? Do you have any tips to share?
