1. Activity Trackers
Fitness technology has come a long way even in the past 12-18 months and this year especially, they make great gifts! I have owned a couple of FitBit products and have been impressed with their features and they offer that little extra incentive to keep yourself moving throughout the day. Fitbit isn’t the only player in this field either, there are several options here, so be sure to consider how it will be used before purchasing.

2. Fitness Program
At home fitness programs is where I got my start and allows me to get in a great workout without ever leaving the comfort of my own home in an hour or less. There are a number of options here to meet the needs and preferences or just about everyone. The gift of fitness can mean so much more than a gift card to their favorite restaurant, which has minimal lasting effects for the recipient. With the purchase of a Beachbody fitness program, they will also get me as your coach to help get the best results possible!

3. Medicine Balls
Medicine balls offer a lot of variety when it comes to developing core strength, balance and coordination. Available in various sizes; from 6 lb all the way up to 15 lb – you can help get their stash of medicine balls started and then they can ramp up from there. Many of the Beachbody fitness programs also incorporate the medicine ball, so they’ll be able to leverage them there as well.

4. Resistance Bands
If the goal is to lose body fat, you need to incorporate resistance training into your routine! Resistance bands are a great way to get started here and won’t take up a lot of room either, so they make the perfect gifts for the business traveler. I have a set that purchased almost 2 years ago and haven’t outgrown it to date. Look for resistance bands that offer an anti-snap safety feature which will allow you to workout with confidence in the band; BodyLastics is a brand that offers such a feature and is the brand that I have as well.

5. Foam Flooring
Form flooring is something you may give as an “add-on” to someone who already has an established fitness routine. they are well worth the minimal investment. They offer a much better surface to jump around on when compared to hardwood flooring or concrete! You will also protect whatever flooring type you might have underneath from sweat, dropping a dumbbell or just the additional wear and tear you’ll be throwing at it. Foam flooring is typically found in puzzle type pieces, allowing you to fit into the size requirements of your workout space more easily. Multiple colors are typically available as well!

6. Foam Roller
There is a pretty good chance that you or the person you are shopping for doesn’t have a foam roller! However, they are one of the best additions to the list of fitness equipment, even for those who are just getting started. A foam roller is perfect to both your pre-workout warm-up as well as recovery, post-workout. Relieving soreness and stress on the muscles and joints with as little as 10 minutes can make a world of difference in areas that are sore or have tightness.

7. Workout Wear
Having comfortable clothing while you are working out is often overlooked. This is not implying that you have to buy 10 new outfits just to get started with a fitness program, but having a good set of workout clothes can make a big difference in how you able to move freely throughout your workout. I really like compression wear since it doesn’t hang too loosely on my body, but doesn’t restrict movement either. While finding a style that someone else will like, you typically can’t go wrong with a great pair or shorts or a nice athletic cut shirt this season.

8. Heart Rate Monitor
Got a runner on your list this season? A heart rate monitor is a great option here, though they don’t have to be runners to enjoy the benefits of the device. There may be some activity trackers that also serve as a heart rate monitor, so you could knock out two birds with one stone here! With a quality heart rate monitor, you’ll be able to track calorie burn more accurately – regardless of the type of workout (running, cardio, strength training) you are hitting.

9. Dumbbells
For the same reason you need resistance bands, dumbbells offer a way to step up your game when it comes to strength training. While resistances bands may be a great starting point for some of you, dumbbells are a more traditional means to strength training and allow you to really push yourself and add some lean muscle mass. There are several types of dumbbells available; iron, adjustable and rubber. The option you choose has several factors, budget, space and preference to name a few. I really like the Bowflex adjustable dumbbells, they work for my situation and my budget. Keep these factors in mind when shopping for dumbbells.

10. Gloves
It seems that every year, I am in need of a new pair of lifting gloves… Perhaps I am not buying high enough quality or I am just really wearing them out, either way this is another item that you can’t go wrong for someone that you know incorporates resistance training into their schedule. They protect the hands and improve grip and all situations. A LOT of options here, but keep it simple and look for some kind of adjustable strap to ensure a good fit.

Bonus. Agility Ladder
HIIT – High Intensity Interval Training, is one of the most effective style of workouts for improving cardiovascular health and fat loss. An agility ladder incorporates into this style of workout perfectly and is also very versatile in it’s use in each workout. This is another great add-on for someone you know who already has a fitness routine in place and is looking for something to mix things up.
