So…what to get that fitness junkie on your list? Or maybe you know someone that simply wants to get started, but hasn’t yet taken the leap? Perhaps, it is you who want to add something into your healthy and fit lifestyle, but aren’t quite sure what you want?
Regardless of reason you may be shopping for a fitness related gift, I’ve got you covered! I’ve put together a list of gift ideas that I feel would be perfect for any of the scenarios mentioned above and then some. The list isn’t exhaustive, but it does cover the majority of needs for those of us who workout at home either on a permanent or regular basis.
Pro Tip
A tip that I have learned over the years is to shop online and then if necessary, go to a local store to purchase if there is a better deal to be had. A lot of the recommendations below can be found online and that is where I primarily tend to shop.
One way that you can save quite a bit when purchasing online is by shopping at Amazon. Actually, join Amazon’s Prime Program and then make your purchase.
As a Prime member, you get…
- Free two-day shipping on millions of items.
- Unlimited instant streaming of 41,000 movies & TV episodes.
- Over 350,000 Kindle titles to borrow for free.
I buy everything I can from Amazon and save a lot of time and money thanks to Prime.
1. Wireless Headphones
I love to listen to music as I am warming up and throughout my workouts. If you have a phone that has bluetooth capabilities, a bluetooth speaker or headphones can be used while you workout without any of the annoying or nagging wires of traditional headphones.

2. Activity Tracker
Fitness technology has come a long way even in the past 12-18 months and this year especially, they make great gifts! I have owned a couple of FitBit products and have been impressed with their features and they offer that little extra incentive to keep yourself moving throughout the day. Fitbit isn’t the only player in this field either, there are several options here, so be sure to consider how it will be used before purchasing.
If you are just getting started with a fitness, start simple – it is like that you won’t need all of the fancy options that some include – if necessary, it will allow you to upgrade at a later time to something that is more in line with your goals/needs.
Price: Starting at $49.99

3. Apparel
Having comfortable clothing while you are working out is often overlooked. This is not implying that you have to buy 10 new outfits just to get started with a fitness program, but having a good set of workout clothes can make a big difference in how you able to move freely throughout your workout.
I really like compression wear since it doesn’t hang too loosely on my body, but doesn’t restrict movement either. While finding a style that someone else will like, you typically can’t go wrong with a great pair or shorts or a nice athletic cut shirt this season.

4. Blender
If are shopping for your favorite fitness junkie, chances are they probably know the importance of post workout nutrition and have some kind of post workout shake. In some instances that may be limited to a scoop of protein powder and water in a shaker cup (not my favorite…). In other cases, they may take the time to throw a few things into a blender for an awesome combo of carbs and protein!
Since that blender probably just daily use, it may be time for them to step up their blender game! Stick blenders are awesome for traveling, but something like a Nutribullet, Vitamix, or Blendtec are invaluable for at home use. The latter 3 will stand up to the consistent use on a daily basis without giving you any problems, whereas the stick blender, may not survive after prolonged daily usage. I went through 3 stick blenders before stepping up to a Nutribullet. With either option, ease of clean-up should also be a factor; the stick blender and Nutribullet require nothing more than a quick rinse of the blade.
Price: Starting at $9.99

5. GoPro
I have always pondered the question of whether owning an action camera like a GoPro requires that you are constantly involved in extreme activities or if once you own a GoPro do you only then begin to entertain participation in those extreme activities?
The GoPro is one of the most recognized action camera on the market and you definitely don’t have to participate in anything extreme to enjoy or appreciate their flexibility and quality. I’ve used my GoPro Hero 5 on family hikes, at the pool and even attempted to have my pets wear it. I have also recorded several of my workouts from various angle within my home gym. It does a much better job of getting those wide angle shots in the relatively narrow space of my home gym.

6. Dumbbells or Resistance Bands
If the goal is to lose body fat, you need to incorporate resistance training into your routine! Resistance bands are a great way to get started here and won’t take up a lot of room either, so they make the perfect gifts for the business traveler. I have a set that purchased almost 2 years ago and haven’t outgrown it to date.
Look for resistance bands that offer an anti-snap safety feature which will allow you to workout with confidence in the band; BodyLastics is a brand that offers such a feature and is the brand that I have as well.
Price: Starting at $9.99
Shop Resistance Bands
For the same reason you need resistance bands, dumbbells offer a way to step up your game when it comes to strength training. While resistances bands may be a great starting point for some of you, dumbbells are a more traditional means to strength training and allow you to really push yourself and add some lean muscle mass. There are several types of dumbbells available; iron, adjustable and rubber. The option you choose has several factors, budget, space and preference to name a few.
I really like the Bowflex adjustable dumbbells, they work for my situation and my budget. Keep these factors in mind when shopping for dumbbells.
Price: Starting at $1.99

7. Water Bottle
Hydration during your workout is critical! You should be drinking anywhere between 16-32 oz of water for every on hour of activity. This may seem like a lot initially, if you aren’t used to drinking that much, but you’ll adapt as you increase your intake.
You’ll want a good water bottle or shaker cup to accommodate. A water bottle is great for before, during and after your workout throughout the day. Whereas a shaker cup is a great option for the pre/post workout shake that you might typically have. I’m a big fan of the Blender Bottle Sport Mixer, seen below. It has NEVER leaked and is large enough to accommodate my pre-workout and my post workout shake.
With either option, you will want to make sure it is going to be BPA free and seals to avoid spills/leaks.
Price: Starting at $9.99

8. Foam Roller
There is a pretty good chance that you or the person you are shopping for doesn’t have a foam roller! However, they are one of the best additions to the list of fitness equipment, even for those who are just getting started. A foam roller is perfect to both your pre-workout warm-up as well as recovery, post-workout. Relieving soreness and stress on the muscles and joints with as little as 10 minutes can make a world of difference in areas that are sore or have tightness.
Price: Starting at $9.99

9. Smart Home Assistant / Amazon Echo / Google Home
The world of connected devices is growing and with that comes some pretty cool automation features. The Echo from Amazon and Home from Google are two of the most recognized at the moment. There are a ton of ways that a device like the Echo or Home can automate some of the mundane tasks that we perform on a day-to-day basis.
Both of these devices let you play music, control your smart home, get information, news, weather, and more using just your voice. The devices from Amazon implement the “Alexa” technology, while Google simple refers to their technology as “Google Assistant”.
Price: Starting at $29.99

10. Fitness Planner and Food Journal
“Failing to plan, if planning to fail.” – Benjamin Franklin
When Franklin stated this so long ago, I am sure that his fitness routine/schedule was not at the forefront of his mind, but the intent of the statement would certainly still apply. In fact, it applies to just about everything in life!
Tracking your workouts and your food intake can make a substantial difference in your progress and results, especially if you are just getting started. Even if it is as simple as just checking a “Yes/No” box like this Habit Tracker I created, this has a powerful impact.
There are some awesome fitness and food journals available that allow you to get really detailed with your tracking – both in and out of them gym. Several provide some daily motivation that allow you to focus on a single mantra for the day/week. These little journals make great gifts for that fitness junkie who you think has everything – they’ll eventually need one of these!

11. Compression Socks
While technically this could fall under the Apparel category, compression socks are a unique piece of fitness gear that you might not have thought about as a gift for that fitness junkie on your list. They actually provide increased blood circulation, muscle oxygenation and stability, while decreasing muscle vibration increases endurance, strength and power.
Compression socks have been my go to socks for Spartan Races, other OCR events and traditional runs.
Price: Starting at $3.99

12. Quest Bars
Need an idea for some stocking stuffers? Grab a few Quest Bars! Protein bars in general make a great snack in between meals or while on-the-go. Most of the “protein” bars on the market have relatively high amounts of sugar, effectively making them a candy bar with some additional protein. Quest Bars are definitely different here, they are low in sugar, high in protein (20-22g per bar), and include a decent amount of fiber; something else you won’t find in many other protein bars.
Price: Starting at $1.99/bar
Shop Quest Bars
13. At Home Fitness Program
Of course, an at home fitness program is a great way to complement everything listed above. For many of us, going to a gym and working out in front of other people is literally frightening! Trying to figure out all of those machines can lead to frustration and giving up. With an at home fitness program, everything is laid out for you! The daily workouts, the nutrition it’s all provided. The equipment is basic, nothing complicated or big and bulky is necessary. Lastly, you can workout in the comfort of your living room or the space that you have dedicated!
