There was a lot of information, but each article gave you some helpful tips on what to do. And here in part 7, we’ll condense all the advice into a list of action steps.
Nutrition 101: Calories
Action Items:
- Determine your BMR and daily caloric needs
- Start tracking your daily intake - MyFitnessPal
Nutrition 101: Protein
Action Items:
- Calculate your protein needs
- Assess your protein sources (good, better, best)
Nutrition 101: Carbohydrates
Action Items:
- Identify where you get the majority of your carbohydrates
- Focus on carbohydrate timing to maximize utilization
Nutrition 101: Fats
Action Items:
- Focus on including healthy fats (unsaturated - monounsaturated & polyunsaturated) in your diet
- Calculate your daily need for dietary fat.
Nutrition 101: Vitamins & Minerals
Action Items:
- Include whole food sources to provide the most beneficial form of vitamins and minerals.
- If necessary, choose a multivitamin that can fill in gaps for various vitamins and minerals.
Nutrition 101: Custom Meal Plans
Action Items:
- Determine if a custom meal plan is right for you
- Look for meal plans that provides flexibility while still progressing towards your goals
