Often times, as human beings, we don’t take a step back and appreciate our own accomplishments. This is especially true when those accomplishments aren’t all that glamorous or “sexy”. But, if you are just getting started on your fitness path or have struggled with consistency and you are looking for ways to get yourself back on track; celebrating those minor victories is an important part of the process.
Here are 10 different ways that you gain a sense of accomplishment and truly be proud of how your efforts in your workouts and nutrition are starting to pay off.
1 – Track or log your nutrition
Use an app like MyFitnessPal or LoseIt to start tracking your nutrition and keep yourself accountable. Go for a 7-day streak and build upon it!
2 – Working out 3 times a week
If you are just getting started or you have trouble finding the time, shoot for this number. Gradually work up towards 4 to 5 times a week.
3 – Walking away from a table of deserts
Fill up on the main course of your meal first so that the desert table isn’t as tempting.
4 – Moving up to a higher dumbbell weight
Even if it is just a 2.5 lb increase – you are making things happen!
5 – Managing 1 or 2 more reps with a timed exercise
If you manage 10 reps when only 8 were prescribed, that’s a 25% increase! Not bad for 2 tiny little reps.
6 – Running a longer distance without stopping
Building up your endurance will benefit you in many other of life’s activities as well.
7 – Losing an inch around the waist
While 1 inch may not seem like much at the time, it’s a stepping stone towards additional inches. Sometimes the first inch can be the hardest.
8 – Reaching double-digit goals
10 reps, 10 lb., 10 days of consistent nutrition, 10 days of not missing a workout – all great reasons to celebrate!
9 – Finding a new favorite healthy meal
Eating healthy shouldn’t be thought of as punishment and finding a new recipe can sometimes change your mindset.
10 – Adding a set of a new exercise
Do you have a particular exercise that you have always struggled to complete but now find it enjoyable?
