Hey Team!
This is it, the final week of P90X3! This last week is really more of a recovery week than anything else, with some Yoga and Pilates and Dymanix missed throughout. I am not sure that I will follow this recovery week per the schedule; I might hit some additional workouts here and there before getting started with my Tough Mudder Hybrid on 3/31/2014. I’ll admit, I am getting a bit antsy to get started, but I know the next 10-12 weeks are going to be tough and so I should probably use this week to catch up on some sleep, get some rest and be ready to rock it next Monday.
Let’s help others and pay it forward!
How many of you have/know someone that you think would benefit from being a part of this group? We all probably know SOMEONE that may be struggling with health and fitness.
Who do you know that has high cholesterol, blood pressure issues or blood sugar problems? Do you know someone that needs to lose weight, tone up or gain weight?
If you think you know someone, even if it is just one person, let me know and let’s get them plugged in. I greatly appreciate any and all referrals sent my way!
Death by Cardio?
Not many people enjoy cardio right? I know that I am not the biggest fan, but I still do it! Why? Because I know that doing the things that I am not good at or like the least is the only way to get better at them and improve my overall fitness level.
That being said, there are some forms of cardio that I avoid because they simply are beneficial to reaching my goals. Long, slow cardio sessions are what I am referring to here.
If you are a runner, marathoner or something similar then you can ignore the following. But if you are simply trying to lose body fat, then…Read On. You will never mistake me for a distance runner, I have never found a lot of motivation in simply running. I am not here trying to bash runners, not in the least; my wife is a runner as a matter of fact. I am simply trying to illustrate a point to address a myth about running being the most effective/quickest way to lose body fat.
Running long distances can definitely burn a substantial amount of calories, but everyone runs at a different speed/pace and so the time it takes to burn that amount of calories can take a REALLY LONG TIME!
There are quicker ways to burn body fat! High Intensity Interval Training or HIIT for short. A HIIT style of workout consists of resistance training combined with short bursts of challenging cardio.
Want to know what is great about HIIT? It is incorporated in almost every Beachbody workout that has been released over the past couple of years. P90X3, Focus T25, Asylum, Combat and TurboFire are fitness programs that follow this training philosophy. What is even better, they don’t take 60-90 minutes to produce the same amount calorie burn that you can accomplish in 25-40 minutes with these workouts.
Ready to save valuable time in your day and get the results you are after? Let’s chat about how one of these programs can help you reach your fitness goals! Do you have questions about using HIIT to get better results? I would love to hear from you.

How Does Focus T25 Compare to Insanity: The Asylum?
Are you a Shaun T fan? You are probably aware of his two most popular fitness programs; Insanity and T25, but what about Insanity: The Asylum? Asylum Vol 1 & 2 are a couple of gems that many people don’t really know about. Here’s a breakdown of a comparison between T25 and The Asylum.
Here is the intro to the article:
“Recently I was asked about how a couple of Shaun T’s fitness programs (Focus T25 & Insanity: The Asylum) compared to each other. I felt that this was great question and perhaps on that many others might have as well.”
