Hey Team!
Who has already started the Memorial Day weekend? I tell you, I wish I have. The weather is warm and I have lots to get done this weekend. Actually, last weekend I planted a small garden for the first time. We will see how it turns out, but hopefully by the end of June I’ll start to see some action and begin using my own home-grown veggies daily!
If you have never thought about growing a garden, I would highly recommend it. Most of the plants are pretty low maintenance, with the exception of daily watering and can really save you some cash at the grocery store. I plan to post some photos and an article here and there as the summer progresses. I’m really looking forward to the crop!
Planting a garden is a lot like your own fitness journey. It isn’t overnight results! You have to be patient and do the little things daily before you will start to see the benefits and results of your work. You can’t rush the process, you can’t get frustrated and give up nor can you skip a day here and there. Any of these will likely result in the downfall of your garden, and likewise your health and fitness goals.
The garden I started is pretty small compared to some others I know. Why so small? Well two reasons…1 – I didn’t have a lot of dedicated space for a large garden. 2 – and most importantly, I know my limits. I have never planted or maintained a garden, so I didn’t want to get in over my head with it. I know a lot of people that unfortunately have the same experience with diving head first into a new fitness program and take on more than they can handle. For some, it may work, but for many, they are setting themselves up for failure and I hate to see that happen to anyone.

With the holiday weekend upon us, many of you will likely either be attending or perhaps hosting a gathering/cookout/party to kick off the summer months! But this doesn’t mean you have to waste all of you efforts that you have put in not only this week, but this year!
