Hey Team!
This week I started the 2nd phase of my P90X2/Asylum hybrid, the strength phase! I was certainly ready mentally for the transition and last week’s recovery prepared my body. The schedule is pretty grueling, you can check it out here: P90X2 Asylum Hybrid Schedule, and I hope that my body doesn’t break down during this phase. If it does…well, then I’ll add a recovery week somewhere in the middle of the 6 week phase and just pick up from there. I’m also working up a review of the first phase and hope to have that out there next week.
You have to listen to your body!
Do not neglect what your body is telling you; TAKE A BREAK. 2-3 days of active rest is not going to derail your goals. Sure, it may delay it a couple of days, but if you don’t listen and continue on, you are more likely to get further into an overtraining situation and possible injure yourself in the process. This will definitely, set you back, possible worse than you think.
A nagging injury can affect you in a couple of ways. Obviously, it is going to prevent you from performing your workout for the day or possibly require that you use improper form during a specific exercise. The latter could result in not only further injury, but introduce additional injuries in other areas. Another affect an injury may have is on the emotional and/or motivational side. Without proper rest and treatment, a nagging injury can really start to wear on you and your mental state.
So…Listen to your body and adjust accordingly. HOWEVER, don’t let something minor like simple muscle soreness or just feeling lazy be your excuse… Now, you are just looking for reasons to mail it in for the day.
STOP IT! GO WORKOUT!

Don’t Be Confused About What to Drink After a Workout
Some members on my team have asked about post –workout supplements/drinks and what to look for in them. I put together an article that discusses the benefits of a post workout supplement and the different products that are available today.

“All of the energy that you have exerted during a workout can be tough on your body and it needs recovery!
