Hey Team!
I’m down to the final 2 weeks of the Body Beast program and ready to finish strong! However, these final two weeks will be a bit of challenge for me… I’ve been trying to cut back a little bit each day on my calorie intake and shifting my macronutrient ratios (Protein/Carb/Fat) to burn up some of the fat I added. That means less carbs, which in turn means a more irritable and grumpier me. At least based on past experiences with this process. Hopefully I won’t let it get the best of me. I’ll ask for you forgiveness upfront in the event that I am “not myself” during our next encounter.
I want to send a special note here to my amazing wife. She is running in a half-marathon (13.1 miles) event tomorrow, her first! I know that she has trained hard to take this on and I am super proud of her and have no doubt that she will do awesome! Good luck baby!

About a week or so ago while I was preparing breakfast for myself and the kiddos, my wife strolled out of bed and casually said; “I don’t know how you get up every morning to workout.” I didn’t really give her an answer at the time, but I found myself thinking about that question nearly all morning that day.
Is getting up at 5:00 AM every morning easy to do? Not for most people, unless it’s already part of your routine. Is it easy not to do? YOU BET IT IS. On the days that I “rest”, I really do enjoy sleeping in a little more than normal. Who wouldn’t, right?
So why do “I” do it?
I do it because I know that life has far too many distractions that would allow me, personally, to make an excuse to not get it done. I do it because starting the day off with some “me” time clears my mind of the events from yesterday and it allows me to focus on that day’s workout. I do it because I know that I am working towards something, a goal, and I am not going to reach that goal without consistent effort. I could add any other motivational cliché here to describe why it is I do it, but that isn’t what is important or should matter to you.
You have to find your driving force, your desire to be willing to make sacrifices to get what it that you want. So what is yours, or maybe better yet; what was yours? Maybe you have already reach your goal and are ready for setting a new one that will get you back in the game? Maybe you had a goal, but fell short. Why? There are always obstacles that you are going to face on the path to your goals, some are known and some are unknown. The known obstacles are easy to take on since you know they are coming, you can plan ahead and strategize how you will overcome them. What about those unknown obstacles? Sometimes they can completely derail you… However, if your “Why”, your desire, your drive is strong enough, it won’t matter. You will find a way to overcome any obstacle and reach your goal.
So… Are you working towards your goal or away from it?
