Lots of stuff this week; so let’s get going!!!
Week 2 of Insanity: The Asylum – Volume 2 – This program hasn’t disappointed thus far! I can’t say that I have mastered any of the routines yet, but my footwork has gotten better and my “cardio” legs are finally coming back to me. Since this is only a 30-day program, you really don’t have much time to go through any of the “phases” that are incorporated with many of the other programs and I am not saying that this is a bad thing; just different is all. There is a hybrid schedule of Volumes 1 and 2 that is a 60-day program that is included with Volume 2 package and this may be something I look at giving a go sometime in the fall.
This week is did a couple of things that I had been putting off.
- Cut my hair. It was out of control. I have cut my own hair since I was in college. I’m a cheapskate I suppose, but my trusty hair-clippers have never failed me. However, instead of getting all fancy (which, in reality it never is…), I just went straight to the ¼” guard and went at it!
- I finally gave up carrying around both my iPod and smartphone. This was a tough one for me. I primarily listen to audiobooks on my commute to and from work and the iPod works fantastic for this and I hadn’t been able to find an app for my smartphone that handles audiobooks like the iPod. New phone = taking the plunge! BTW: DoubleTwist is the best alternative for you Android owners.
I realize that these matters are pretty trivial, but they illustrate an important point; we all tend put off or delay those things that are uncomfortable or inconvenient.
We all have a list of things that we can categorize as such, right? If you find yourself saying; “Not me!”, you are simply not being honest. Aside from those items I actually knocked out, I probably have 10-12 other things that I could throw on that pile…
So, how many of you have put your health and fitness on this list? At one point in the past you made a conscious decision to make a commitment to yourself, you purchased a program or supplement because you wanted something in your life to change. Maybe it was to lose 10lbs or train for an upcoming event. Did you want to get yourself back in shape for a social gathering, wedding or reunion? Whatever it was/is, that should be your focus. Are you still on track? Perhaps you met your previous goal? Great! Awesome! Time to set some new ones. I’m not sure about you, but once I have met a goal, I want more from myself. Do you want more for yourself? Only YOU are stopping you!
January 1, 2013 is just around the corner and this the time of year that EVERYONE thinks about “getting in shape” or “losing some weight”. Don’t wait until January 1st, start or restart NOW! If possible, get up 30 minutes earlier and start a program you already have or get started with a new program. Plan ahead with your nutrition in order to avoid the pitfalls of grabbing something that isn’t going to be a healthy option. Don’t use the excuse of; “I’ll get started after the holidays” or “I’ll wait until January to figure it out”. Make the decision, and get moving!!! I’m here and with you, let’s get busy and go to work!

Here is another one of those items from the list I mentioned above… I’ve been sitting on this for too long.
