Hey Team!
I trust that everyone had a great Christmas holiday! Here at the Coburn household, we had a great day, very relaxing and it was a lot of fun watching the kiddos open up their gifts. I got up at my normal time and knocked out a full body workout since I knew that I wouldn’t want to do it later in the day…
I actually got an extra day at home due to the “blizzard” that swept through the Midwest. I hope that anyone else that was caught in the thick of this storm came out of it without any major issues. We had nearly a foot of snow come down and that meant shoveling snow from the driveway was top priority. Nearly an hour of shoveling snow and it ended up being my 2nd workout for the day!
This week in between my last Asylum Vol 2 workout and my first Body Beast workout on 12/31/2012, I have been mixing things up, complete confusion of the body if you will. Over the past year or so, I have compiled a great mix of Beachbody programs that allow for a variety of styles of workouts. These programs include everything from straight cardio (Insanity and Asylum) to interval training with P90X and P90X2 and now bulking with Body Beast. I love how depending on my mood and what I think I should/need to work on, I have a DVD that I can throw in and get it done.
Unless you have found what is commonly referred to as your “Soul Program”, many people find themselves getting bored or becoming less motivated with a program they already own. I know that is where I found myself at the end of 2011 when I had been doing P90X for nearly two years, but not with 100% consistency like I had when I first completed the program. Luckily for me, P90X2 was about to be released and this re-ignited my fire. Sometimes a change of pace is what is needed to get you going again.
If you think that you might be falling into a pattern of “going through the motions”, change something! Hybrids, the combination of two or more fitness programs, are a great way to mix things up with the programs that you enjoy and find you drive and motivation again. Think back to what triggered you to start a fitness program; perhaps your “WHY” is now different and a different direction is needed. 2012 is about to come to a close and 2013 will begin. Are you ready to follow through on those decisions and commitments that you made in 2012?
Looking at my roadmap for 2013; it should be an awesome year and I am excited to get started with all of you! The interactions and feedback that I hear from all of you is invaluable and drive me to keep going, keep pushing.

When Should I Eat Carbs
Carbs in general get a bad rap, but they really are and can be a useful part of your personal health and fitness. After looking into the details of carbs and how the can be best utilized for results, I posted an article that you might find useful.
