Week #2 of Focus T25 is done! As you may recall, I have been stacking this program with the Body Beast program and to be quite honest it has been a lot more demanding on my body than I expected it would be. I have been hitting the Body Beast routines first and then move to T25 and usually by the end of my first routine, my body is WIPED OUT! I think that I am going to need to start chugging some Results & Recovery in between workouts.
One thing I have noticed is that week in #1 I was really just trying to learn all of the exercises and the transition between each of them wasn’t as good as it was during week #2. Along with that, I have noticed that now that I am more familiar with the routines, I can go a bit harder than previous efforts. I found this to be the case with other programs in the past as well. Once you become familiar with the pace and specific exercises, the routines actually get harder…? Kind of weird.

Maintain Motivation
I have had several people ask; “How do you keep yourself motivated?”
This is great question, but I don’t have a single answer to give you. What keeps ME motivated isn’t what you really want to know. What people are generally trying to find out if there some kind of secret to getting up each and everyday to get the things that need to be done in order to reach my own goals.
When I hear that question, I immediately want to ask the following question; “What is the reason you got started and have your efforts so far satisfied your reason?” If not, then your initial reason for getting started simply wasn’t big enough.
The truth is there are days I am NOT motivated. I don’t really feel like giving 100% in my workout that day. Just recently, I was reading another personal development book and there was a statement that I had been utilizing and just not realizing it. It stated: “Motivation Gets You Going – Discipline Keeps You Going”
When I read that, it dawned on me that this was exactly how I approached things and not just from a fitness perspective… You have to start with some form of motivation and that is different for everyone. This is where the importance of your “WHY” comes into play. This is going to be the driving force in getting you started and keep you pushing forward. Eventually, that initial “WHY” is likely going to come and go or change altogether and that is where the discipline in consistency will have a huge impact on you.
So, while I do think that having some additional motivation along the way has it benefits, it may only be short-lived if you haven’t developed the discipline in your habits to be able to re-kindle your own self-motivating desire from such motivation. Perhaps that is exactly what YOU NEED today?
If that is the case, take 3 ½ minutes out of your day and watch this video. Watch it the first time like you would any other video. Watch it a 2nd time with you eyes closed and LISTEN to every word that is being spoken and if you don’t feel a sense of motivation once it is over, check your heart beat…
