How’ everybody doing? Let me know what’s going on or if there is anything that I might be able to help you with! I know that I send out this weekly check-in to over 500 team members every week, but I rarely hear from YOU. Am I providing enough information that you find relevant? I’d love to get over 500 replies to this week’s check-in!
The Alpha phase of Focus T25 is over and the Beta phase begins today! I am excited to get started with this final 5-week phase. While I loved all of the workouts in the Alpha phase, I was ready for some new routines, so the timing is perfect.
The Alpha phase was all about “The Foundation”, building up your cardio endurance and focusing on the fundamentals and form that will be further used in the Beta phase.
The Beta phase is going to focus on “The Core” and introduce some resistance training into the mix. I will be taking a break from Body Beast during this first week as my shoulder (injury from last year) has been giving me some trouble over the past few weeks, so this is a good time to take a little break from lifting the heavy weights.
As I mentioned before, I will be posting some video reviews of all of the workouts in the Beta phase and post those onto my website as they are completed. You are welcome to offer your feedback on those or the Alpha workouts in the comments of each review; I’d love to hear your thoughts as well!
Schedule your workouts!
I am guessing by now, school is back in session for many of you that have kids. This will be the 4th week already for mine, crazy! With school back in session, our schedules here at home tend to become a little bit more structured and we typically do not have much variation throughout the week.
However, we inevitably will have curve balls thrown at us… A kid’s practice will runs longer than expected. A favorite TV show’s premiere is airing tonight (Breaking Bad or The Walking Dead!!!!). Whatever is happens to be; I always know that I don’t have to worry about getting my workout in. How is that you ask?
I schedule my workouts in the AM, BEFORE anything else in my day has a chance to derail me. I wake up early enough that I get some business items taken care of and then I get right to working out. Otherwise, if I leave the rest of my day and the curve balls that can possibly be thrown at me dictate when I workout, I could be more tempted to find an excuse NOT to get it done.
Now, working out in the AM for you just may not be a possibility and I completely understand. The point here is that you have to make it part of your daily schedule as if it were an appointment that you simply cannot miss. Because that is essentially what it is; an appointment you have made with yourself to better yourself! Would you skip an appointment that you committed to with your accountant or your Dr.? Probably not, unless a legitimate reason came up that you were simply unable to avoid.
Honor the commitment you’ve made to yourself with the fitness program you are working through!
