Latest Pre-Workout Review
I have tried a few pre-workout supplements in the past and while I try not to get too caught up in “gotta have this in order to workout” line of thinking, I continue to use them off and on. I recently was sent, through a promotion I won on Instagram, a sample of the BRX Pre-workout supplement from the Force Factor brand. Here’s my review of this pre-workout supplement. If you are interested in checking out the other pre-workout supplements that I have tried and reviewed in the past, here are the articles that you can read.
Mix-ability
If you look at the photo below, you can see that the scoop of the BRX Pre-Workout is pretty small, it equates to 4 grams. This comes in about half of the size of the ON PRE (8 grams) and only about 1/4 of the serving of E&E (11 grams). Given the small serving size you would expect it to mix well. However, I found that I was pretty heavy and required a constant shake or stir in order to prevent it from settling at the bottom of my glass.
Taste
As you can see from the photo above, I tried the Blue Raz flavor. I am not a huge a raspberry fan on the whole, so I wasn’t crazy about the flavor. That being said, it wasn’t overpowering in its taste, so I didn’t mind it at all. They also have a watermelon flavor, which on the surface sounds a lot more up my alley.
Price
The retail price for the 40 serving size tub that I received is $39.99, the 10 serving comes in at $11.99. This basically amounts to a $1/serving cost, which is pretty much in line with most other pre-workout supplements. I did just recently find the 40 serving supplement available on Amazon for $8.50! I am not sure what would allow them to sell it for so much less than retail, but if you want to get in on it; here is a direct link to the product on Amazon.com; Force Factor BRX Pre-Workout
Supplement Facts
I have included a copy of the supplement facts label, so you can check out the details of what’s actually in this stuff. Actually, there’s not much to it, though companies have started to use these “blends” and “complexes” more and more to kind of hide all of the details. A few of these, I have never heard of and had to look up myself…
The BRX Proprietary Blend is pretty straight forward; Creatine Monohydrate and Beta-Alanine. I don’t normally care if Creatine is my pre-workout supplement, since I usually have it by itself. Though it isn’t clear how much of each ingredient in a single serving, at 2751 mg, there is certainly less than the 5 grams of creatine that I normally consume pre-workout.
The Energy & Focus Complex introduces some ingredients that I have run into previously. According to the Force Factor site: “Vinpocetine and Huperzine A help increase blood flow and support your concentration as you focus on your reps and your results.”
Of course, BRX rounds things out with Caffeine. 100 grams is roughly equal to that which is found a single cup of coffee, so not an overwhelming amount.
Impact on Workout
This is always the most interesting question. The purpose of any pre-workout is “wake you up” and get you a bit amped up to hit your workout. Many also tout the concentration during your workout and BRX is no different. Since you know that you are taking a pre-workout, you might naturally tend to induce the effects that are intended. This is an phenomenon is seen in control groups within the pharmaceutical industry quite often even though they are given nothing more than a placebo.
So how did it effect me? I definitely felt the effects of the Beta-Alanine and Caffeine with the usual tingling in my face ad ears. I don’t think that I have really ever experienced the “increased focus” benefit that most of the supplements promote. I do feel like this supplement was on par with getting me ready/amped up for my workout, Body Beast or T25, and gave me a bit more energy to push through them. I wasn’t breaking any lifting records while using BRX, though that isn’t something that I ever would expect and nor should you.

I am not sure what the requirements are to qualify for the free sample, but hey, it’s worth a shot to give it a try before you drop the money to buy it. Summary
I liked the BRX pre-workout supplement and would certainly try it again. Usually when I try pre-workouts, I like to use them for at least a week before I pass judgement on how well I like them. I used this tub until it was gone, which was slightly less than the 40 servings that were indicated. I might have gotten about 35 servings or so, but I wasn’t real precise with the scoop, so it is possible that one could get 40 servings.
If you are looking for a new pre-workout that isn’t extreme in its effects, but still offers and decent amount of that normal pre-workout tingle and gets you ready to hit your workout hard, give BRX a try. Start with the sample and then decide if it is something you would like to continue.
Have you tried BRX? If so, post a comment below of your thoughts/feedback on this supplement.
