A new month is here and we are that much closer to enjoying all of the activities that summer allows. Now is not the time to slack off…
I am roughly 45 days aways from my 39th birthday, which also means I am roughly 45 days from enjoying a full week of the gulf coast sun and beach with the family!
Since early March (8 weeks), I’ve been slowly burning off some of the extra fluff I had been carrying around in preparation for this trip. I’ve been following the 10-Week Physique Competition Training Plan I created awhile back since day 1.
Here’s a day 1 to day 57 progress photo. As for the numbers…
- Day 1: 180 lb ~ 10% body fat
- Day 57: 175 ~ 8% body fat
WHY
- Why are you working out?
- Why are you reading this?
- Why are you pushing play?
- Why are you second-guessing yourself, even if you WANT to push play?
You can do all the research and planning you want, but if you haven’t asked yourself the question, “WHY?” and come up with a good answer to that question, you don’t have much chance of lasting when the going gets tough!
Did you decide that enough is enough, and 2017 is the year you make a change? Did your wife / husband make you do this? Did you see the infomercial and get pumped up by the idea of being ripped? Are your buddies doing it? Did your doctor say you have to do something about your health?
Focus
We all have reasons for why we decided to do this. That motivation is what gets us started on the journey. During the journey, we may forget the motivation we had at the start, or the journey may become so hard that the motivation we had is no longer enough to keep us going. Often times, our ability to stay the course is directly proportional to how important our reason is for doing it in the first place. If we started working out because we saw the infomercial and got an emotional high, we will quit as soon as we lose that high! But if our doctor told us we will die of an obesity-related disease, we are much more likely to stick to it. Our success is directly tied to the power of our “Why?”.
- Do you have a “Why?” that will get you out of bed when you don’t want to get up and workout?
- Do you have a “Why?” that will help you resist the temptation to pig out at the end of a long, stressful day?
So…what is your “WHY”? Are you still working towards the primary reason that you started this awesome journey?
If you aren’t, recall the reason, your “WHY” and re-dedicate yourself to your health and fitness NOW! You can’t get back the time that has passed, but you have complete control of the time you have remaining.
Remember people. This isn’t a sprint. It’s a lifestyle change. Setting short goals is critical … like “how ripped can I get in 90 days?”. That’s wonderful. It forces us to push ourselves to the max. But it isn’t over at day 30, day 60 or day 90 … or at least it shouldn’t be. That should be the launching point for a new trajectory of life. It is hard to get on the right path, but once you are on it, STAY ON IT!! Keep living each day with purpose. Take care of yourself. Take care of others. Make it count gang!
Here are a few of videos and photos to help you get inspired/motivated to stay on track. Enjoy!
