Keith Got the Results He Wanted with P90X!
This is one of those success stories that just kind of blindsides you and really shows what one can accomplish over the course of just 90 days when you are committed!
It was only by chance that Keith and I got connected. When Keith signed up for a FREE Team Beachbody account, I actually wasn’t even his assigned as his coach, but we chatted through the TBB site a few times and then he decided to join our team and I was honored to have him.
Keith and I had a similar background, always the skinny kid with aspirations to have a more ripped/chiseled physique, but he didn’t have the tools or system in place to make it happen. Once he got committed and gave everything he had, he had phenomenal success!

Here is Keith’s story in his own words:
“Growing up I was always active. I was involved in swimming and trained to be a lifeguard, but I was never able to put on any muscle or definition. I had always been a skinny kid, and was always trying to put on weight through high school, so I never really paid any attention to nutrition.
What I didn’t know at the time was I didn’t want to simply put on weight, but unfortunately that is exactly what happened. Without knowing where I went wrong, I went from 145 lbs and 5% body fat in high school to 185 lbs of beer belly. I had joined and quit gyms several times trying to replace my newfound body fat with muscle, but between a busy schedule, crowded gyms, and countless other excuses, I never got the results I wanted. I wasn’t happy with where I was: I had a desk job, which meant I wasn’t as active as I used to be, and I was always tired.
In short, I had a beer belly, skinny arms, poor nutrition, a lax exercise regimen at best, and no energy.
I heard about P90x from a friend who was always talking about how friends of his got absolutely ripped in only 3 months, so I decided I would try it out. I figured: at only 90 days, what did I have to lose?
I bought P90x in 2010 but between excuses, lack of commitment, and a host of other reasons, I never go to day 90. In 2013 I was determined to make a change: I joined a running club in March and decided I would try P90x again. I stuck with the running club and made some progress with my running times, I even took off 10 pounds! But when it came to P90x I only got to day 60, I missed days in between, I did not focus on nutrition, and ultimately ended up calling it quits while I was on vacation.
I was proud of the changes I was making and my commitment to the running club, but I wasn’t seeing any more serious changes in my overall fitness, wellbeing, or body.
Enter January 2014: my wife started up a new year’s ‘kickoff’ program, so I decided to give P90x one more serious kick. I decided this time I would follow the program to the letter. I signed up for a team Beachbody account, got Chris as a coach, and with his advice dialed in my nutrition and exercise routine.
Before I started P90x (the third time) I felt I never had time to work out; I thought I would never be able to build the muscle I wanted to build; couldn’t work out when on the road with work; I never gave a thought to nutrition; the list went on.
After getting in contact with Chris I realized that every problem I thought I had were all really the same problem: excuses. What I really needed, as Tony Horton says, was to “get my mind right”.
Once I got in contact with Chris I went to his web page and read his story. That’s when I realized that he started right where I was at that moment. I had always believed that I would just be either skinny or fat, and other than toning up, I would never be able to pack on muscle. Through Chris I learned that with proper nutrition and exercise, I could put on muscle and cut fat, just like he did! It was time for me to set the bar higher for myself.
90 days later, I couldn’t be happier with the results that I have achieved. Over the course of the 90 days I’ve dropped almost 20 pounds, 10% body fat, have abs and am easily in the best shape of my life! Now I have more energy, more confidence, and have developed a sustainable healthy lifestyle that includes nutrition, exercise, and a whole support community that holds me accountable and encourages me to be the best that I can be.
While I was really happy with the changes I made and the way I looked after the program, to me fitness was always about being healthy: the rest was just external motivation. One of my proudest achievements, and the real proof to me that this program works, came from the improvement in my overall athletic ability.
Though 2013 I made great progress with my running club but was never able to break a 20-minute 5k – a long time goal for several members in our club. From February 2014 (day 30) to April 2014 (day 90) I did not do any training other than P90x. I completed P90x on April 8, 2014 and registered for the year’s first 5k race that took place on April 13th, 2014. On race day, not only did I break the 20-minute mark with a time of 19:48, but I also beat my best time on that course by over a minute and 20 seconds – all without any training other than P90x.
After the race a fellow running mate told me that the winter gave me wings, I thought to myself: ‘the winter didn’t give me wings, P90x did!
Now that I’ve found a system that works, I’m hooked! I am currently planning on starting up a round of Body Beast, and have no intensions of stopping there. Not only are these programs cheaper than a gym membership, I have never been able to get results like this in a gym. These programs aren’t just 90 days to a better body; they are a healthy way of life – one that I plan on continuing for a long time.”
